The Purpose and Benefits of a Family Meeting

You should be proud of the fact that you have taken the necessary steps regarding your estate planning for yourself and your family. Effective estate planning takes time and evolves over various life experiences. Based on requests from clients, we are introducing the concept of a family meeting. The family meeting is for clients who desire transparency and understanding regarding their decisions in case of their incapacity or death.

The purpose of a family meeting is to share relevant information with family members. Each family is different. The participants are often our clients and their children, or main loved ones if they do not have children. The meeting is meant only for those named in your planning.

These meetings are not meant to discuss changes in planning. Thus, these meetings are being conducted for clients who have completed their estate plans within the last three years or for clients who have done reviews of existing plans within the last three years. If it has been more than three years since you have met with our office, please contact the office to schedule a review.

In order to avoid numerous family members having to travel to a meeting, we are conducting these one-hour meetings by Zoom.

How can you and your family participate in this family event? Please contact Marie in our office at 708-857-7255 or email her at mpassi@huckbouma.com. She can then send you a letter explaining the full process.
