Year End Charitable Planning

Compliments of Lauren Iwema from The American Heart Association:

The new tax plan is expected to eliminate tax advantages for charitable gifts made in 2018 for most Americans. With days left in the year, many taxpayers are now scrambling to take advantage of tax deductible gift benefits before Sunday, Dec 31st.

The American Heart Association Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a great tax deductible giving option that allows you to continue working with your trusted financial advisor to manage your assets in the DAF!

Looking for an immediate tax deduction or a way to avoid capital gains? The American Heart Association has a new Donor Advised Fund (DAF) Program, sponsored by Renaissance Charitable Foundation, that can help. When you contribute to the fund:

  • You receive an immediate tax deduction and may submit grant requests at any time, now or in the future.

  • You may continue to work with their trusted advisor to manage the fund assets.

  • You advance the lifesaving work of the American Heart Association and other qualified charities.

  • You avoid paying capital gains taxes on appreciated assets

In a hurry? Request your free copy of our Donor Advised Fund Overview now at (630)212-7864 or lauren.iwema@heart.org. This is a quick and easy tool to understand how it works and what the benefits are to you.

How a Donor Advised Fund Works:

  1. Donations

You make an irrevocable, tax deductible donation to the American Heart Association Donor Advised Fund Program.

  1. Investments

You work with your financial advisor to create a strategy to grow your fund.

  1. Grants

You recommend grants to the American Heart Association as well as your other favorite charities when you are ready.
